It's time that we have a serious talk. People need to stop making up stupid words.
Cray cray for Crazy? Slore of Slut/whore? All of this nonsense with the twitter and facebook terminology? Really?
I was looking up something online about AP Style and there was a page with what people wanted to be added to the new edition of the AP Stylebook. Some were legitimate-- I can understand wanting to change "Web site" to "website" and "e-mail" to "email" and take out the need to explain that a blog is a web log on first reference since these are internet terms that have been around for many many years now.
But where are they going to draw the line?
"Friending" and "Unfriending" are not verbs. Googling is not a verb. Twittering vs. Tweeting? LOL, LMFAO, BRB, all of these little internet/text abbreviations... Really? And I swear, the next person who says "cray cray" around me is getting SMACKED UPSIDE THE HEAD. STOP IT!
If any of this nonsense makes it into the next AP Stylebook... ugh. Imagine the headlines
"OMG WTF? AZ passes new immigration law"
"Unfriending results in double homicide" (orly? cray cray!)
"California woman sues former bff over slore tweet"
We need to keep this crap out of newspapers, term papers and professional e-mails and keep it quarantined in the domains of our silly social Web sites.
